About Magistrate Teater

I am a lifelong public servant dedicated to protecting, strengthening, and serving the community of Jessamine County. As a retired officer from the Nicholasville Police Department, I spent years on the front lines of public safety, working to keep families safe and build trust within the community I proudly call home.

After retiring from law enforcement, I continued my commitment to service by running for and being elected Magistrate for the Fifth District of Jessamine County. As a member of the Fiscal Court, I work to ensure responsible use of taxpayer dollars, improve county services, and support thoughtful growth while preserving the values that make Jessamine County a great place to live and raise a family.

My dedication to the community extends far beyond public office. For nearly two decades, I have volunteered countless hours mentoring young people through Kentucky 4 H programs, helping them build leadership skills, confidence, and a strong sense of responsibility. I was honored to be inducted into the Kentucky 4 H Camp Volunteer Hall of Fame, an award given to only a select few volunteers across the state.

I have also spent many years coaching local and travel youth in softball, archery, and other recreational sports throughout our community. Through coaching, I strive to help young athletes develop discipline, teamwork, and confidence while creating a positive environment where kids can grow both on and off the field.

In addition to coaching and mentoring youth, I have served in leadership roles that help guide community growth and opportunity. I currently serve as a board member for Nicholasville Jessamine County Parks and Recreation and on the executive board of the Jessamine County Chamber of Commerce, working alongside local leaders to strengthen recreation opportunities, support local businesses, and promote a thriving community.

I believe strong communities are built through service, accountability, and leadership that listens to the people it represents. As Magistrate, I remain focused on supporting families, strengthening local infrastructure, and ensuring Jessamine County continues to grow while maintaining its strong community spirit.

Through every role I have served, as a police officer, volunteer fireman, community volunteer, and elected official, I have remained committed to one mission: serving the people of Jessamine County with integrity and dedication.
