Why we’re here
Jessamine County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) serves the community by coordinating responses to emergencies and disasters such as floods, tornadoes, hazardous material spills, accidents and other crisis events. They are tasked with planning, training and managing emergency response personnel and resources in the event of a crisis event as well as coordinating with state and federal agencies. EMA also works to ensure the county is able to effectively respond to and recover from emergencies and disasters.
Services we provide
- Develop comprehensive emergency plans for various types of crisis events
- Coordinate a response among various local agencies and resources during an emergency
- Manage emergency operation centers and ensure effective communication
- Conduct training and simulation exercises to prepare first responders, government officials and the community for emergency events
- Provide timely and accurate information to the public before, during and after an emergency so that individuals can make informed decisions and take appropriate actions
- Manage and allocate emergency supplies, equipment and other resources during an emergency
- Assist with recovery efforts and rebuilding after a disaster, including assessing damage and coordinating with state and federal agencies
- Use risk assessment and planning to enhance community preparedness and reduce impact of a disaster
