Community Resources

The following sections highlight community-driven initiatives and resources provided by Jessamine County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to ensure the well-being of local residents. These programs are designed to enhance access to critical services, promote public health, and strengthen emergency preparedness within the community.

Get The Lifesaving Smartphone App PulsePoint

Jessamine County EMS and E911 have joined with PulsePoint to help increase the survival rates of cardiac arrest victims. This is a free, life-saving smartphone app that alerts everyday citizens when CPR is needed for patients in cardiac arrest.

Saving Lives with AEDs

Registered AED Locations are accessible to Jessamine County’s E911 emergency dispatchers and disclosed to emergency responders, including nearby citizens trained in CPR and off-duty professionals such as firefighters, paramedics, and nurses. Instead of asking the caller if an AED is available, our 9-1-1 staff can inform callers of nearby lifesaving devices.

Why CPR?

Every year nearly 400,000 people die from sudden cardiac arrest outside the hospital. Sudden cardiac arrest can occur at any age and due to many reasons. The one thing that all sudden cardiac arrests have in common is that chances of survival are greatly increased with early recognition and initiation of CPR. Learning CPR can take only minutes but may add years to the life of someone in cardiac arrest.

Bystander CPR can dramatically improve the chance of survival by helping to circulate essential nutrients and oxygen to the brain and vital organs. Obtaining a CPR certification can be intimidating and time consuming, however hands only CPR is simple and extremely beneficial in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest.

How can you learn?

Would you like to learn hands only CPR to educate yourself and your family? Or are you interested in organizing a hands only CPR class for your organization? Regardless of who you want in the class, we want to help!

Jessamine County EMS proudly offers hands only CPR classes at no cost to the public. These are not certificate courses, but it’s important to understand that a certificate is not necessary to provide lifesaving CPR prior to the arrival of EMS or Fire.

If you are interested in holding a hands only CPR event, please contact us through the link below and we will do our best to accommodate you or assist you in finding the resources you need to schedule an event.

Why Our Youth?

We strive to provide not only quality care to the citizens and visitors of Jessamine County, but to provide safety education and preventative health. It is our hope that through our youth initiatives we are able to teach our younger Jessamine County residents how to be safer and healthier, and to show that our providers will always be here for them in their times of need. Contact us below for more information about our youth programs.

Classroom Visits

We will send an on-duty crew in an ambulance to come visit your preschools, elementary, middle, and high schools. Our EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics will explain the role of EMS in our community and when to call 911. We can show different pieces of equipment used regularly and demonstrate hands-on skills like CPR and airway management.

EMS Recruiting and Career Days

Interested in having our providers come speak and provide more information about the EMS career path? We would love to come and share more information about what makes our job so great! We can provide information about entering the field of EMS and what it is like to work within the emergency medicine environment.

Special Event Coverage

Jessamine County EMS is proud to provide medical standby and coverage for a variety of special events in our community. We have provided ambulance support to the PGA Barbasol Championship, EMS personnel to provide first aid and other medical care at the Kentucky Wine and Vine Fest, and medical coverage at a variety of other events like sports games and 5k’s.

If you have an event in Jessamine County that you would like us to provide medical personnel and/or an ambulance to, let us know! Our crews love participating in parades, meeting community members at local events, and continuing to support our community in other ways. Fees will vary based on the size and duration of the event.
