Why we’re here

The Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office is a community-oriented policing agency and a respected leader in its service. We utilize non-traditional problem solving as we work with other law enforcement agencies to address crimes and protect the community. In addition, the Sheriff’s Office serves as the collector of all state, county, county school and district taxes derived from assessed real and tangible properties. The Office also distributes tax collections to the appropriate taxing authority according to Kentucky State Law and the Property Valuation Administrator maintains tax records which are public information.

Services we provide

Enforces local, state and federal laws within the county, including providing patrols, crime investigation, arrests and response to incidents
Executes court orders and serves legal documents, subpoenas, summonses, eviction notices, and writs
Provides security for the county courthouse
Develops community outreach programs, crime prevention initiatives, and public education to foster community relationships and address local concerns
Responds to emergencies and coordinates with other emergency agencies
Investigates criminal activity including collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses and working with other law enforcement agencies
Monitors and enforces traffic laws to ensure road safety, including investigating traffic accidents and incidents of speeding and driving under the influence
Offers Concealed Carry Deadly Weapon licensing through the State of Kentucky.
Inspects vehicles that have been relocated from out-of-state to Jessamine county to ensure their safe operation so that they can be licensed in Kentucky
Collects and distributes scheduled taxes from county residents based on property valuation
