Why we’re here

The Jessamine County Animal Care & Control Department ensures the well-being of animals and the safety of the community as it relates to animals. The department humanely houses and cares for various animals as well as works to protect animals from abuse and neglect.

Services we provide

Temporary housing and food for stray, surrendered and abandoned animals
Adoption of animals to new homes and at adoption events such as St. Nich Fest and BooWow
Reuniting lost pets with their families
Vaccinations, such as rabies vaccination
Spaying and neutering by professional veterinary staff
Animal licensing
Offers volunteer opportunities to those wanting to provide comfort, training and care of the animals
Investigation of calls of stray animals, animal cruelty, dangerous/aggressive animals and other concerns by animal control officers
Enforcement of animal ordinance laws through citations, fines, or legal action against by animal control officers
Promoting responsible pet ownership through education programs and outreach events
